Overview
Project overview
Automotive dealerships combine lightly loaded, highly glazed customer spaces with service zones that see concentrated wheel loads, lift pits, and frequent slab openings. For Budds Jaguar Land Rover, the structural package was developed to keep showroom volumes column-light while protecting clear heights and floor performance in the workshop.
Structural approach
Showroom framing was coordinated early with glazing mullion layouts and brand ceiling datums so transfers and edge beams did not compete with the retail experience. Service areas used durable slab-on-grade and elevated floor designs sized for lifts, jacks, and delivery vehicles, with pits and trenches treated as discrete structural elements rather than afterthoughts.
Canopies, entry portals, and rooftop equipment screens were detailed as complete load paths back into the primary frame, including wind uplift and snow drift at roof steps.
Delivery
Construction-phase support included shop drawing review for steel and connections, RFI responses at pit and slab openings, and site presence during critical framing and pour milestones typical of Ontario dealership delivery.
